Are you looking for a good movie with an important message? So look here!

Do you feel that the only meaningful films are obscure cult films? So think again. A good movie with an important message is not impossible to find. In today’s article we will share a few recommendations. An entertaining movie can also be full of emotion and meaning.

You do not have to go to indie film festivals to find films that speak to your curiosity, challenge your values, appeal to your consciousness and make you see or understand something from a new perspective.

Sometimes you want to see something that is more than just entertainment. You are looking for something touching, deep and full of emotion. Film lovers often think that this kind of film only exists outside of Hollywood, and that you will have to go into the work of directors like Andrei Tarkovsky or Jean-Luc Godard.

But just because a movie has a popular director or actor, does not mean it is meaningless. One can find several examples of a complex but straightforward film with an important message.

An Entertaining Tear Press: Hachi: A Dog´’s Speech (2009)

If the end of this movie makes you cry more than movies like Million Dollar Baby or Titanic , you’re part of a select group of extreme animal lovers.

This movie is a sentimental gem. It shows how strong the bond between humans and animals can be. Hachi: A Dog´s Tale (2009) is about the unconditional love and loyalty that dogs have towards their owners. It’s a beautiful tear press.

An entertaining film with an important message of social justice: Dirty Dancing (1987)

This iconic dance film from the eighties is more than just a fun way to spend a few hours. Dirty Dancing  addresses how empathy and compassion can transcend class divisions and stereotypes.

We see how a brave young woman (Jennifer Rey) asks her bourgeois doctor-father to help a woman she almost does not know with a major problem. And while all of this is happening, the characters show us that dance and good vibes are more important than race and social status.

An Oscar winner with an important message: Parasite (2019)

Parasite  is a movie with many layers. It’s an excellent film. In fact, the plot hides a terrible truth. The film is a subtle but harsh critique of capitalism, social classes, and the trap of meriotrachi.

All you have to do is observe, understand and marvel at a seemingly ordinary story that ties in well with the analogy it represents in certain scenes. In short, Parasite is an excellent and very entertaining film.

Entertaining and Mysterious: The Cider House Rules (1999)

Despite being easy to watch, this film touches on some very “ugly” topics. Michael Caine’s amazing acting brings the story of abandoned children, a young mother’s problems that no one will help, and terrible family secrets hidden during the cider season.

At the end of this beautiful film, we know that there are princes in Maine who never become kings, and that those who make the rules are usually not the ones who have to live by them.

An Entertaining Historical Movie: Good Bye Lenin (2003)

You only have one mother, so take good care of her. This touching film, eminently played by Daniel Bruhl, takes place in a historic moment of transition. The film has a humorous tone, but it helps to understand a very important part of our story.

For example, you will understand why thousands of people hang their desires on a symbolic and genuine wall, and that the most important thing to keep you alive at times is to believe in something, whether it becomes reality or not.

A good movie with an important message about formation: Dangerous Minds (1995)

This 90s movie with a great soundtrack has Michelle Pfeiffer in the lead role as a young and beautiful teacher in a school with many problems. At first glance, it seems to be a predictable film without much to offer, but there are intertwined stories that give depth and meaning to the film.

The most important thing you can take with you from the film is that the wise / stupid, good / evil student problem is useless when young people live in extreme circumstances. The film claims that education is far better at changing human realities than drugs or crime.

A movie about the split second that can change your life: Match Point (2005)

The frivolity of certain social milieus and people’s hypocrisy are the main themes in this film by Woody Allen. It is a tale of passion, sensuality and something that is harder to understand and accept: Matchpoint.

A split second can change your life forever. In this split second, you can decide if what is happening is fair or not.

Entertainment, Love and Betrayal: Legends of the Fall (1994)

This is a great movie to watch when you need some good entertainment. Also the soundtrack is great and the central conflict is important.

If it’s complicated to fall in love with your best friend’s partner, what would happen if it was your deceased brother’s fiancé? Legends of the Fall  is about there being some emotions you simply cannot act on, no matter how genuine and strong they are. It is a deep and often painful lesson.

A movie with an important message about real families: Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

A family takes on a journey so that their daughter can compete in a beauty contest. The characters are wonderfully eccentric. We have the little girl’s tough old grandfather.

There is her personal trainer with theories of success that does not even work on his own projects. She has a brother who does not speak, a gay uncle who is in the middle of a life crisis, and a mother who finds herself in it all.

The journey and the competition show that there is no one standard for beauty, happiness or success. After all, the most important challenge is to become a happy family, not a perfect one.

A funny movie about love (or not): (500) Days of Summer (2009)

The narrator warns us already at the beginning of the film that this is not a typical love story. It is a statement that is true or false all depending on who you ask. If you have been part of an unrequited love story, this will seem like a very possible and familiar situation.

(500) Days of Summer  is a non-catastrophic look at how painful it can be to love someone who does not feel the same for you. However, the worst thing for the protagonist is that there is no logical reason for it and he can just watch as time passes.

So there is the list. Take a look at these movies if you need some entertainment with some philosophical reflection. If you do not think that good movies with strong messages exist, we think some of these movies will make you change your mind.
