Keanu Reeves, And Different Celebrities

Keanu Reeves is a different celebrity. On his birthday, one year, he was spotted alone on a bench in a park, where he celebrated himself with a muffin and a coffee, which he offered to everyone who came by to say hello.

Keanu Reeves became famous for his portrayal of Neo in the movie  The Matrix . At first glance, he seems to be like any other Hollywood star: successful, rich and probably a bit disconnected from how “normal” people live. However, Keanu Reeves is not a typical celebrity.

Keanu’s life has alternated between moments of glorious success and serious, personal tragedy. His survivability is admirable. He accepts that there are lessons to be learned from difficult experiences. He does not pretend to be a guru or a saint. Closer to someone who is able to acknowledge and truly appreciate what is important in life. He is an inspiration to all.

Keanu Reeves’ difficult childhood

Keanu Reeves was born in Beirut, Lebanon, on September 2, 1964. His mother was English and his father was from the United States. He had a sister who was two years younger than him. His father was an alcoholic, and he left the family when Reeves was just three years old.

Keanu’s father ended up in prison for selling drugs. Keanu met, practically, his father for the first time when he was six years old, and he saw him again when he was 13 years old.

Keanu’s mother worked as a stripper at nightclubs to make things stick together, often taking men home. The family moved to Australia, and later to the United States. In New York, Keanus’ mother married a Broadway director, and they all moved to Canada. However, this marriage lasted only one year.

A life marked by tragedy

Keanu Reeves not only had a traumatic childhood, he also had to face heartbreaking tragedies later in life.

His only sister was diagnosed with leukemia, and although she recovered, this experience greatly affected him. Years later, she had a relapse and he had to go through the traumatic experience all over again.

Keanu decided to become an actor after an injury forced him to stop playing hockey, which he considered to be his true calling. He never finished high school, but he was always attracted to art. His father helped him find a job as an actor in the United States. One of his first films was My Own Private Idaho,  which premiered in 1991.

For the filming of this movie, he met his best friend, River Phoenix, Joaquin Phoenix ‘little brother. Unfortunately, River Phoenix was addicted to drugs and he died of an overdose of heroin and cocaine at a young age. For a long time, Keanu blamed himself for his friend’s death because he thought he could have done more to help him.

Keanu Reeves: Tragedy and Indomitability

In 1999, Keanu Reeves’ longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Syme, an actress and Keanu’s personal assistant, gave birth to a baby girl, just before Christmas. After her daughter’s death, Syme became really depressed. One and a half years later, she died in a car accident on her way to a party.

A year later,  Keanus’ sister suffered a relapse with cancer. He dropped everything to be with her. Despite all the tragedies and pains, Keanu Reeves has been able to continue living a good life. Oddly many celebrities, he lives in a modest apartment and he gets around with the subway.

The actor has donated a huge portion of his fortune to organizations fighting cancer. He has also donated money to hospitals in need. Some people believe he has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Keanu prefers to live a simple life. He has said many times, a fame and fortune are not the most important things to him. He loves to ride his motorcycle and study Buddhism, even though he does not consider himself a Buddhist. He is a peaceful man who knows the value of friendship, and he understands that life is more than what goes on in Hollywood.
