We would venture to claim that there is some music that has affected every person’s state of mind at some point. Now, there are several studies that have shown that there is a relationship between music and emotions. There are songs to reduce anxiety.

Some songs make us angry, sad or happy, but there are others that make us relax. A British neurologist has claimed that there are certain songs to reduce anxiety because they have therapeutic properties.

Dr. Lewis-Hodgson, in collaboration with the British laboratory, Mindlab International, published a list of songs to reduce anxiety by up to 65%. He made the list after observing 40 women’s brains while listening to music.

In addition, he observed body signals such as heartbeat, blood pressure and breathing. All the volunteers exhibited a more harmonious and relaxed state of mind after listening to songs to reduce anxiety.

Dr. Lewis-Hodgson compiled a list of seven songs to reduce anxiety. Keep in mind that these songs are not the only songs in the world that can do this. This neurologist simply dived into songs that were popular at the time.

“Pure Shores” by All Saints

According to Lewis-Hodgson, the song “Pure Shores” by All Saints ranks 7th above songs to reduce anxiety. The text is about relaxation.

Critics from all over the world praised this song. It uses keyboards with double bass and dolphin sounds in the background. In fact, there are some people who think it’s one of the best 20 songs of the decade.

Canzonetta Sull’aria by Mozart and “Strawberry Swing” by Coldplay

“Weightless” by Marconi Union can really reduce anxiety

Mindlab selected “Weightless” as the most relaxing song in the world in 2011. According to studies, this song is 11% more soothing than any other. Studies have shown that it can reduce anxiety by up to 65%.

This is not at all surprising, as Marconi Union deliberately considered scientific theories, to create a relaxing song. This fact is confirmed by The British Academy of Sound Therapy.

We are sure that there are many other songs that reduce anxiety. What they all have in common is a complex composition and that they largely lack repetitive patterns. Therefore, the brain “turns off”, as it is not possible to “predict” the next rhythm.
