The Most Beautiful Things In Life Are Not Seen Or Touched, They Are Felt

The most beautiful things in life are not seen or touched, they are felt

The most beautiful things in life are not visible or tangible. They can only be felt. A touch, a hug, a look of magic and a “how are you today?” It is all part of the formula of true happiness, which is no more than the sum of all the things that are invisible to the eyes. When united, they plant flowers in the gardens of our souls.

However, experts in emotion and behavioral psychology tell us that we often lose our natural ability to experience the simplest and most basic happiness. In fact, humans are the only living beings capable of overestimating their suffering through distorted or toxic thoughts.

“Things are associated with invisible obligations: you can not pick a flower without disturbing a star.”
–Galileo Galilei–

True happiness is therefore invisible. It cannot be touched or seen, but it can be felt. For it is the energy that comes from the positive bonds we attachments we have to the things that are meaningful to us. The most beautiful things in life are there, all around us, but they cannot be owned or manipulated. They deserve to be respected as saints.

For love does not dominate or submit. Love must be created and renewed every day, just like true friendship or love for a child or a pet. What we give and receive cannot be touched; it is the whisper of our emotions.

The most beautiful things that we do not always see

The most beautiful things have always been there, all around us. However, we can not see them. For usually we look through a large, foggy filter activated by routine, automatic or reflective thoughts, mechanical movements, and our limited intuition, which is seemingly completely disconnected from our emotions.

Rick Hanson is a neuropsychologist from California. He is famous for his books like Hardwiring Happiness and Buddha’s Brain. In his books, he reveals that the brain does not know how to be happy. Rather, it is governed by rewards.

From birth and throughout childhood, we are amazing reward seekers. But the rewards we chase are so important and pure that as we grow older, we forget the innate joy they gave us.

Only children know how to truly enjoy the present, the here and now. Dreams are enough for them to feel satisfied. A walk, a game, a discovery, a hug, an “I’m proud of you”. It is the best kind of gift for a child’s mind. They appreciate these invisible gifts that nurture their hearts.

As we grow, our search for reward becomes more complex. We will only be happy if we have a good job or a partner. Or when others recognize our worth. The mind loses its innocence. This is how we are sucked into empty holes, insecurities, frustrations, etc.

Hanson emphasizes the need to connect with his happiness. This can only be achieved by reprogramming the brain and thereby exploiting its neuroplasticity. You need to change your thoughts and behaviors and feel new emotions, to shape your reality. For the beautiful things there still, invisible and intangible. You just have to know how to feel them.

Look into yourself to find the invisible things

To understand us a little better as a species, it is always interesting to look at neuropsychology. The brain develops on the basis of negative experiences. For that is how it can learn enough to be able to survive. For  our ancestors had to face very difficult situations.

This can help us understand that we are programmed to focus on the negative aspects of our lives. But it’s time to dump her and move on. If we have been able to survive adversity as a species, it is time to move on and learn to be happy. For the next evolutionary step is consciousness.

Let us develop a more intuitive awareness of emotions, reciprocity, respect and empathy. Let us learn to pay attention to the most beautiful things that surround us so that we can grow with them, take care of them, and encourage them. We should allow ourselves to be happier as we have already learned to be strong.

Steps to develop awareness and open your eyes to what is inside

We are experts in the art of worrying, looking down to earth and not relying on our own abilities. Somehow we focus so much on this abyss of negativity within us that we go through the day with our eyes closed. We are blind inside and out while fumbling around to find happiness.

  • It’s time to turn on the light inside you and turn off thoughts like “maybe”, “this is not for me” and “I’m afraid of it”…
  • Only when you are free from your own inner prison will you rise up as the brave creature you are and finally look outside without fear, burdens or negativity filters.
  • Stick to the here and now and look for daily rewards that children make: the taste of a new kind of food, the pleasure of making a new friend, a walk, a smile, catching a person’s eye…
  • Enjoy the little things you see around you, because if you put them all together, they make up an entire universe.

Slow down and enjoy. For it is here that you can find true happiness in these small, invisible, basic things. First of all, remember that happiness does not exist in luck. It is fostered by the little things that happen every day that we tend to ignore.
